Home decor isn’t something I typically blog about, but I’m working on some changes here at SSC and one of them is doing a bit more home-focused posts. But more on that later! I figured this would be a great opportunity to get into home decor, with fall being such a fun time of year for, well, everything. Sweetworks helps make it so, with tons of great candy you can use to create a beautiful (and delicious) fall-themed display in your home.
It seems a little odd to decorate with candy, but for an event, it makes a ton of sense. Not only can you create a beautiful display on a table, but it doubles as dessert for later on, which is always helpful.
I created two displays with some of the candy Sweetworks sent me. The first is a stunning centerpiece on my dining room table, and the second is a smaller, kid-friendly display on a side table behind it.
A Stunning Fall Centerpiece
I wanted to create something that would draw people into my home once my table was set, so I set out to do something colorful and taller. I started with filling a crystal pedestal bowl with Caramel Apple Gumballs, using two bags to fill the bowl. I placed the bowl on top of a wooden pillar candle holder to rise it up a bit.
On either side, I placed mismatched wine glasses, which I filled with pearlized Autumn Mix Sixlets®, and then I added two low crystal bowls. In the bowls I put some Autumn Mix Gumballs, which had the same shimmer finish and shades of gold, orange and red as the Sixlets. Since one of the bowls and one of the wine glasses I used had silver accents, I used a pair of tall silver dishes with cute ruffle edges to put some mint and orange Ovation® Sticks, which are perfectly in reach for coffee drinkers.
I wanted to use a pair of cute ceramic pumpkins I had, as well as the adorable Foiled Milk Chocolate Turkeys from Sweetworks, but I needed some mid-height layers to be able to pull it off. So I found another crystal dish, this one with a pedestal, and another pillar candle holder to put a couple Ovation Break-A-Part chocolate balls on display. I added two more to the table, putting out two each of the Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Spice and Dark Chocolate Orange varieties, which are perfect for sharing. I placed my turkeys at the ends, and added my favorite silver salt and pepper shakers for a finishing, glimmery touch.
A Cornucopia of Kid-Friendly Treats
While gumballs are kid-friendly, they aren’t all that easy to reach up on the table, so I wanted to create something with bite-size goodies within easy reach of the kids in the family. Fortunately, Sweetworks has no shortage of kid-friendly treats sure to please the little ones.
For this display, I wanted to keep things simple and easy to grab a few pieces and go do whatever kids do. I filled an acorn-shaped wood dish with two kinds of candy: Foiled Milk Chocolate Jack-O-Lantern Discs and Foiled Solid Milk Chocolate Halloween Balls. While they’re Halloween themed, the colors still went with my decor theme nicely, and I liked the individual wrapping. And speaking of individual wrapping, the Sixlets Snack Pouches filled my cornucopia perfectly, and looked way cute doing so!
To add a little bit more dimension to the display, I added a couple more pieces, which helped tie both displays together. I used a lovely large pillar candle holder which has crystals, for some sparkle, and a woven pumpkin to finish things off perfectly. This display was ready for handfuls of Sweetworks candy to be gobbled up!
