Review + Giveaway: Mia Mariu Essential Oil “I Feel Good” Blend

I’ve been into essential oils lately.

Since I’ve been doing more yoga and trying to feel better, both physically and mentally, I’ve been turning to essential oils to help. When I reviewed my first bottle of tea tree oil, I bought a small “starter kit” of oils from Amazon because I wanted to be able to create blends for various purposes. My little kit doesn’t always have the oils I want though, and I’m not really all that interested in having every type of essential oil under the sun so I can create every blend there is. So when I saw an opportunity on Tomoson to review one of two Mia Mariu essential oil blends, both of which contained oils I don’t have in my kit, I figured it would be a perfect opportunity to add a useful blend to my essential oils collection.

I chose the “I Feel Good” blend.

Initially, I chose it because I’ve been trying to focus on more positive energy, especially at work. The “Feel Good” blend has four different 100% pure therapeutic essential oils: eucalyptus, bay laurel, lemon, and peppermint. And it’s actually not really made to promote positive vibes, like I thought it was when I chose it. Instead, this proprietary blend was created to help support overall respiratory health, provide relief from colds, flu, fever, sore throat, and bronchial distress, as well as reduce body and muscle aches, and help promote good digestion. With eucalyptus and peppermint, two oils I use in yoga to help open my airways, that makes sense.

When my 2 ounce bottle of Mia Mariu “I Feel Good” blend was first delivered, I applied it before yoga class. Since the oil blend I created with my own oils was made with breathing in mind, I figured this one would work as well. Plus, I have reflux, and often get heartburn in class, so I figured the peppermint would help with that as well. I applied it to my wrists, my neck, behind my ears, and to the spot on my abdomen just below where my ribcage meets. It was a gentle scent, easy to breathe in and not overpowering, which is always a plus for me… I don’t like to be that person in yoga who overpowers everyone with their scent. I used it in class a few more times and found it uplifting but rather relaxing (likely because it helped encourage deep breathing) at the same time.

And then I got sick.

I’m not sure if what hit me was allergies, weather-related, or just another cold, but my sinuses were painfully clogged. The worst day for me was a few Mondays ago… I tried to tough it out at work, popping a couple Advil, investing in nasal spray, drinking tons of water, and using half a box of tissues, but it just wasn’t happening. I headed home a couple hours early, intending on crawling into bed with a hot water bottle, a snuggle-dog, and a Benadryl to help me sleep. I filled my hot water bottle, and as I was doing so, I noticed my bottle of “I Feel Good” sitting on my bathroom counter.

I remembered what it said in the literature that came with the oil–“Apply a few drops and massage affected area.”–and decided to take a few drops and massage it into my sinus areas. I warmed my hands under the water I’d used for my hot water bottle and put a couple drops on my finger tips (the eyedropper that comes in this bottle, by the way, is one of my favorite things about it since it helps keep things mess-free). I gently applied the Mia Mariu “I Feel Good” blend to my cheeks, temples, and forehead, rubbing it in using small circles. I then put a couple drops in my palms and applied it to my neck and chest, using the same gentle, circular motion. I headed to bed, skipping the Benadryl. Between the heating pad, the dog, and the oil blend I was actually able to fall asleep for a few hours without too much discomfort keeping me awake.

I repeated the process every night, and applied the oil to my neck and chest every morning before getting dressed for work. At night, the oils helped soothe the pain caused by the pressure in my sinuses, and in the morning, the light scent helped keep me clear after my hot shower did the dirty work. I’m still a little congested, but since that first application, my sinus pressure and pain has been severely reduced. That Monday afternoon, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to work Tuesday. But Tuesday morning I woke up feeling a hundred times better, and I didn’t even load myself up with medication… all I did was massage a couple drops of “I Feel Good” into the places I hurt. I went to work Tuesday, and every day after that. Next time I’m sick, you can bet that I’m going to repeat the process!

    I am so curious to try essential oils! I think the “relax” would be most helpful for me– if it’s safe to use for pregnant women, I would totally use it when I go into labor! Sounds SO nice!

    I’d pick the “I feel good blend” because I also have sinus issues and because I love the smell of citrus in general.

    I would get the I feel good for my hubby. He has horrible trouble with his sinuses and since you had such success I’l give it to him if I won.

    I love how essential oils can help support your body to let it heal as intended. They have awesome names for their blends. (Who doesn’t want to feel good??)

    Too hard to choose. Both are so important. I suppose I can’t relax if I don’t feel good first. LOL!

    I could really stand to relax a little, I think. I am sensitive to cheap oils- Mia Mariu has really worked well for me!

    I would choose “I feel good”. I recently was sick with a severe sinus infection over the winter and it sucked! I’ve also been looking into essential oils to try.

    I would choose “I Feel Good” because that sounds more like me and it probably hasmore of a strong smell to it.
