Monday I posted all of the great things I found at Savers. I shopped with $50 in hand, the intention of finding springier stuff that pushed my limits a bit, and during a 50% off sale to really maximize that $50. I score some great pieces and some incredible deals!
Now I’d like to show you how I plan on styling the pieces I got for spring. I put together 11 different looks that incorporate all of the items I got at Savers as well as pieces I already had in my wardrobe.
Look 1: The Gala
This was actually the first look I put together with my Savers finds, and I did so out of necessity. Hubs and I were invited to the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra fundraising gala event with friends, and I put this look together because I wanted a gown, but didn’t have one. This worked out perfectly!
I started with the Armani Exchange shell and the burgundy maxi skirt. They worked together very nicely and just needed a few accessories to complete the look I was going for. I added a multi-strand necklace from Forever21 (it appears to no longer be available) and a pair of awesome shoes that really suited the event, since it was Second City that performed with the CYSO. The Marry Me pumps by Privileged, with their mustache and lips were just perfect. The afternoon of the event I managed to score a perfect Rebecca Minkoff bag at TJ Maxx and carried it without the strap, like an oversized clutch.
Look 2: Dressing Down the Formal Maxi
I figured I’d take the above look and make it a little more casual… more suited for a date night or something. I started with the same A|X shell and skirt base, but topped it with my sheer 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target blouse, which I left open. I then added my black clutch and my Simply Vera Vera Wang slip-on sneakers.
This would be a good look for a date night, as I mentioned, but perhaps one that required a bit more walking, since I paired sneakers with it. Maybe a visit to a museum and then dinner, since that might be a little more of a dressy thing we could do. I could probably get away with this look at work too… I’m not sure anyone would really bat an eye, even at the long, dressier skirt.
Look 3: Leopard & Stripes
I paired another two pieces together for this next look. I opted to take the short sleeved, hi-low dress I got and pair it with the navy leopard cardigan I found. I belted the dress with a fun “LOVE” belt and added a red heart necklace I got ages ago (it’s from Target, but is apparently a Juicy Couture knock-off). I finished off the look with a pair of Steve Madden cut out booties and my thrifted leather backpack.
I admit, I was thinking of Valentine’s Day when I was planning these looks, so love was, uh, in the air. But I think this look could work for anything come spring. I think it would be especially cute for running errands on the weekend and then heading to dinner.
Look 4: Valentine’s Day Date
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, this is the look I had planned on wearing on hubs’ and my dinner date. But with the weather being what it was (sub-zero temperatures), a skirt and short sleeves was just not going to fly! I’ll have to wear this cute on another date with hubs.
I started with the burgundy pencil skirt I got and added a super cute lip print tank from the Juicy line at Kohl’s. For a little extra warmth I topped the look with the Vince Camuto cardigan I got at Savers. I removed the fur collar because I didn’t want the cardigan to be overly heavy. I then added my Christian Siriano holographic gold pumps and a pink wristlet. I didn’t go with any jewelry here because the top has sparkles on it, and with that and the shoes, it was enough for me.
I was so mad I didn’t get a chance to wear this look on Valentine’s Day! It was so cute, but it was just too cold to wear, especially since our hot date involved walking through Chinatown to go to our favorite dive place. Perhaps I’ll be able to wear this look to an upcoming baby shower I have instead. It’s just too cute to not wear!
Look 5: Casual Chic
I couldn’t resist playing with the cardigan for a more casual look, so I kept the fur collar off and paired it with grey jeans and the Kenneth Cole top I got at Savers. I added the same Forever21 necklace from look one, belted the jeans and half-tucked the blouse. I then added my black slip-ons and my big black coach bag, creating a perfect neutral look for spring.
This is such a versatile look. I could easily wear this to work and then scoot off to dinner and drinks with the girls. It would be great for an afternoon at the salon followed by some shopping and errands. Really, it would work for anything come spring, and I’m excited to be able to wear this look when spring finally gets here!
Look 6: Sporty Spice
I actually put this look together on the floor while I was laying out all of my finds. The skirt and the top were from two different Savers stores, so when I saw them together I was pleasantly surprised. Initially I thought I’d go with my flat OTK boots with this look, but I had the sneakers out and liked the sporty spin they put on the look. The backpack makes it more casual too. I added a butterfly necklace and a claw necklace for a little sparkle.
This is another look that’s super versatile for spring. It would work for work, though I might be a little chilly in the skirt and the short sleeves, but it’s be a great look for the weekend. I love the sporty-chic vibe of this look. It will be fun to wear, regardless of where I end up wearing it, this spring.
Look 7: Tribal and Dots
I couldn’t resist keeping the tribal top on the hanger and swapping out the skirt for this next look. I swapped out the burgundy pencil skirt for the dalmation one I got at Savers. I added black textured tights, the Nine West booties I got, and my Coach bag. With so much going on in terms of patterns, I left jewelry off of this look.
This look is one I’d wear to work for sure. I love the pattern-mixing here, though it’s definitely out of my comfort zone. This will be a good look to wear as soon as the snow melts, and boy, I can’t wait for that!
Look 8: Sport-Chic
This may be my favorite look of the bunch, and it features the LOFT dalmatian print skirt and the Nine West booties again. It also features some more pattern mixing, which seems to be something I’m getting used to as I plan looks for spring. I worked this one from the shoes up, starting with the booties and the skirt, adding the striped faux-layer top from Forever21 (found here). I topped it with a long open coat from H&M (on sale here) and the Trinity Pendant from Stella & Dot, and for the final touch added my Monroe & Main leather baseball cap (available here).
This sporty-chic look that’s more dressy than casual (spare the cap) really speaks to the style I started to love last year, but am working on refining this spring. It’s a sporty look that’s still a little rocker. With the cap, I couldn’t wear this to work, but it would be great for a fun weekend day where I wanted to look stylish and chic but still more casual and fun. I love this look and can’t wait to rock it!
Look 9: A Little Sparkle
I brought back the black Armani Exchange shell for this next look. I kept the dalmatian print LOFT skirt again and added the oversized Catherine’s cardigan. I added my royal blue Monroe and Main crossbody bag and my Stella & Dot Phoenix Pendant (no longer available, it seems, sorry). To make this look sportier, I added my perforated black patent wedge sneakers from Guilty Soles.
This is definitely a look I could wear to the office when it warms up, but also one I’d love to wear out and about. In fact, feel like it’s almost too cute of a look to waste on work! It’s probably something I’d wear on a weekend when I had places to go and people to see. For sure something I can’t wait to wear come spring!
Look 10: Wrap Dress
This wrap dress was an outlet store find that I didn’t wear too much last year, but I’m so glad I kept it in my closet. For one, it never wrinkles, so it can be worn at the office sitting all day and then work great for going out. It’s also perfect for wanting to be comfortable but look nice, which is why I chose to pair it with the Catherine’s sweater. I also really liked the way black and white looked with it in the above look, so this was a natural progression. I opted to stray away from black shoes for this and busted out my tan OTK Iona boots from Guilty Soles, which match my grandma’s old crossbody bag perfectly. For a little pop of a different color, I added a green gem necklace I got at Old Navy last year.
This is for sure a wear-to-work look, and one that would be good for one of those days full of meetings. I know you know what I’m talking about… those days where you don’t get anything done because all you’ve done is sit and listen to other people talk. Yea, this comfy-but-put-together look would be perfect for one of those days, and you can bet your tushie I’ll be wearing it this spring!
Look 11: Leather & Sparkle
Last but not least is a look that was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest (and of course I can’t find it… go figure). I took the tan faux layered top I got and topped it with a denim vest and my Stella & Dot Sahara Pendant. I added a quilted faux leather mini skirt from Forever21, a pair of black leggings, and the black Nine West boots from Savers. I opted to go with my black back pack for this look to keep it super casual.
While I could no doubt pull this look off at work, it would be a waste, and I probably wouldn’t feel that comfortable in it there. So I’d wear this out with hubs or friends instead. It would be a good dinner-to-drinks look, I think.
So that’s it!
Eleven great looks for spring featuring all of the fab pieces I found at Savers. I can’t wait to wear them all and really take my style to the next level. Looks 4, 8, and 10 are my favorites, and I’ve been begging mother nature to warm things up so I can wear them! What’s your favorite look? See anything you’re thinking of trying out yourself?
