This was a really fun look that I enjoyed both putting together and wearing. The last weekend in August we were up in Michigan at my parents’ summer home. We were invited to a backyard anniversary party for friends of theirs, and I wanted something that was both cool temperature-wise and that showed off my style well. I’d ordered this floral maxi from Forever21 and was delighted that it came in time for the weekend, because I knew this was exactly how I wanted to wear it for the first time.

Having really liked how my olive booties looked with my fringe skirt and this sheer back tee for this look, I knew I wanted to wear them both again with this skirt. I did opt to change things up a bit in terms of my hair and accessories though. I threw my hair in braided pigtails (partially because I liked the look, but also because I didn’t feel like drying my hair) and rocked some different necklaces. Shockingly, I didn’t need anything to keep me warm, since it was a nice summery evening.
I managed to catch a shot of that awkward moment when a neighbor calls you out on randomly taking full-length selfies in the middle of the street. I’m not big on being seen when I take my outfit shots, so it threw me off a bit. I forgot to get a good shot of my necklaces, which was unfortunate. I wore my Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant with my gold monogram necklace from 9thandelm.com. An easy, mixed metals combination that got me quite a few complements throughout the evening.
Here’s a look at my booties, which are Nine West, but were a Plato’s Closet find. I confess, I originally got them to wear for my pirate costume, but fell in love with them shortly after trying them on. Gotta love a pair of booties that work for both “serious” looks, and costumey ones! These have definitely paid for themselves and have gotten quite a bit of wear since I picked them up.
I really liked this look!
I hope I’ll be able to figure out a way to wear this skirt to work this fall. I’m thinking that with leggings, I’ll be able to pull it off, but we’ll see. It did ride up quite a bit when I sat (I’m between sizes enough where the large slid down too much and the medium bunched at my hips a little, but fit better than the large despite that, so I gotta deal with a little riding up and bunching here and there), but I’m thinking 100% opaque leggings will minimize that and make it work for work.
