I got this maxi dress to wear on our road trip around Lake Michigan this summer. I wore it a couple times after the trip, but wanted something easy and worry-free for work on August 13. So I wore this Max Studio maxi dress (a TJ Maxx find) and made it a little more fall-friendly with some layers.
Bringing in Fall with a Maxi Dress
This maxi dress kind of rekindled my love for maxi dresses and skirts. I had forgotten how easy and comfortable they can be. I’ve seen memes on Facebook and Pinterest that proclaim that maxis are really just crotchless yoga pants, and that felt very true for this look! I started with my white and grey space-dyed maxi dress and added a basic black cardigan (this Merona one, from Target). I then added two necklaces, a pair of black booties, and black OTK socks (to stay warm in the office). I threw my hair into a high messy bun, chose my Superflex Navy glasses from RetroEyeworks, and donned my Into The Wild Lace-Up Booties. Quick, easy, and effortless…
Here’s a closer look at my necklaces, which include my cheap faux claw necklace from Claire’s (that’s gotta be at least 10 years old at this point) and a new piece I recently snagged on sale at Anthropologie. Seeing the photo, I’m not sure how I feel about the layering, but I rather liked it when I put it on. Normally I’m all for adding this long necklace to things, but I’m not sure it really worked here. Oh well…
And here’s a better look at the Into The Wild Lace-Up Booties from GoJane. After wearing them with these laces for this random outfit look, I swapped out the laces for some black ones (that I think I had… I can’t recall if they came with a second pair or not… I’m guessing not). I like them much better with the black laces and am glad I made the switch.
Since wearing this maxi dress for fall, I’ve added a few more to my closet.
Once upon a time, I loved wearing maxis. And then for some reason, I switched to jeans and shorter skirts. I think I’m a convert again though. Welcome back to my closet, maxi dress!
