As much as I love thrifting, finding a good deal online is just as fun for me. Sometimes, finding trendy pieces in thrift stores can be too much of a challenge, so finding them for a great bargain online is the next best thing! When Necessary Clothing reached out to work together, I was pretty excited. Their store is full of on-trend dresses, tops, shoes and more, and the prices are really reasonable. They’re also adding new stuff fairly regularly (which also means that sometimes, they go out of stock on items quick). In fact, it took me quite a few days to make a decision about what I wanted them to send me to review, and by the time I sent in my choice, they were out of stock in my size. Not a huge deal, but it did tell me that at Necessary Clothing, if you want it, grab it!
Trends, basics, and shoes, oh my!
Necessary Clothing is on top of the latest trends, with sporty-chic pieces, 90’s-inspired looks, simple and sleek basics, glam pieces, and laid-back boho items all prevalent in their online store. When you visit the site, you’ll find tops, bottoms, dresses, jumpsuits and rompers, outerwear, accessories, shoes, and even beauty items (they carry NYX products) to help round out your wardrobe. Each section is further broken down, so finding what you’re looking for is a piece of cake! They also have a blog and a lookbook to help inspire you if you’re overwhelmed by the selection, and of course, a sale section where you can find some pretty good deals. And each item has at least two views of it on a model (usually way more than that) so you can really get a feel for what it is you’re shopping.
Some of my favorite pieces.
Before I show off the fun t-shirt I found at Necessary Clothing, I figured I’d share some of my favs from shopping around the site. They have a ton of stuff, but I managed to narrow it down to twelve fun finds, ranging from glam to sporty, fun to basic.
I love the texture in the Theo Satchel ($39.99), with it’s faux leather and faux pony hair, and totally dig the badass red studs on the Arya Studded Pumps ($24.99). The Glam it Up Sweatshirt ($39.99) would be adorable with jeans and running shoes, or it could work at the office with a pencil skirt and pumps.
Leopard slip on sneakers are so on trend right now, and I love the faux pony hair Razzy Slip On Sneaker ($17.99). The Plaid Scarf ($29.99) looks cozy, but I especially love the double-sided patterns–it’s like two scarves in one! And the Abbi Shearling Jacket ($44.99) looks like a great fall jacket that would double as a warm layer at work during the cold winter months.
The Camile Sweater Dress ($29.99) looks like a great work-to-play basic that’s easy to dress up or down, and I think it’d be adorable with the Razzy sneakers and the Plaid Bomber Jacket ($39.99). And I tell you, if I had an iPhone5 I’d be all over this fun Gameboy Phone Case ($12.99)! It speaks to my inner nerd.
And finally, I love this Velvet Sequin Sweatshirt ($39.99), the gold Julie Necklace ($19.99), and the Equipt Shirt Dress ($34.99), all of which would be perfect additions to any fall wardrobe (and great layered together, with black tights and boots)!
My Graphic Tee Look: Workin’ it at Work!
I knew when I got this super-soft, semi-sheer Celfie Queen tee from Necessary Clothing that I’d want to wear it to work. Because of the larger graphic, putting it under a blazer wasn’t going to work–I mean, it could work, but it wasn’t going to look the way I wanted it to. So I decided instead I’d pair it with a lace-sleeved cropped top, a plaid skirt, black tights and my black over-the-knee boots. I like wearing crop tops under short sleeved shirts in the fall and winter because it gives you the ability to cover your arms, but since it’s cropped you don’t have to worry about tucking another layer in. So much easier!
The gold buttons in the skirt and the shiny gold graphic text were enough that I didn’t even have to bother with accessories, which is always a plus! I had just enough shine with the gold lettering, but also didn’t want to cover up the tee, which I thought was a fun nod at the fact that I take 90% of my own pics here at SSC. Often improvising when I forget my tripod at home… shout out to my yoga block for being a decent substitute during this set.
This skirt was a perfect addition to my fall wardrobe, and I snagged it at Goodwill. It’s a little worn, with some holes in it here and there, but I’m totally ok with it. I loved the way the all black everywhere else made the colors pop! I’m definitely diggin’ all things plaid this fall!
I even played up the colors in the skirt by wearing my pink Retro Eyeworks glasses, which I love with my new blue-grey haircolor! This outfit really spoke to my rockstar style, without being too over the top for work.
This look was great for a fall day at the office! It was fun and comfortable, and had a little bit of color too. My Necessary Clothing tee was super-soft and felt like I had owned it for ages, and was slouchy enough that this will be great with jeans and a flannel as the weather gets cooler, and then again in spring with a pair of fun leggings.
