Memorial Day weekend is, traditionally, the start of summer, and it certainly felt like summer had finally arrived! I welcomed the weekend by wearing a black embroidered dress (found at Savers) with a pile of necklaces, a denim shirt (it was chilly in the evening), and striped Chucks. This Random Outfits look was the perfect casual summer look, and great for spending a Saturday evening celebrating my mom’s birthday.
I actually bought this dress because I figured it’d be a great dress to wear to the Jimmy Buffett concert if we go this year. And while that’s still undecided, I figured I’d get some summer use out of the dress Memorial Day weekend. Since it was just a little on the chilly side as evening rolled around, I topped the dress with a denim shirt I got a few years ago from Forever21 (if you don’t have a denim shirt, they’re great for summer layering… here’s a similar, though more expensive one, from GAP, and one that’s cheaper but not as dark from Forever21). I then piled on the necklaces, as is pretty typical for me, and added my railroad striped Chucks (which are ancient and from back when GAP and Converse had a partnership kind of thing goin’ on). A nice simple, but fun outfit for a summer evening.
Here’s a closer look at my accessories for the evening. I kept my customary mostly-daily rings on and layered a LOVE necklace (also from Forever21 and currently on sale) over my vintage choker. Then I added a triple chain necklace (also from Forever21, but old… here is similar, and here’s one in gold) and finished it off with my Stella & Dot Sahara Pendant. Kind of a 90’s-meets-boho kind of vibe.
And here’s a top-down look at my shoes, with hubby’s new shoes in the shot. Mine are old, but his his were new and a great find that afternoon at the Michigan City outlet mall. He always does really well there, and that afternoon had been no exception.
I rather liked this outfit. It was fun and comfortable, and very season-appropriate at the same time (which I feel is important right now, with all the odd weather we’ve had). I liked the Chucks with the dress instead of something more expected, like sandals. I do anticipate wearing this dress more, because it fits me nicely. I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again.
At this point, I’m so ready for summer…
Aren’t you? Is summer here to stay for you yet, or are you dealing with cooler-than-normal weather too?
