This past winter wreaked havoc on my skin. It was long and bitterly cold, and while I wasn’t outside all that often, the dryness indoors, at home and at work, really just gave my regular moisturizer a run for its money. Even with extra moisture treatments and a facial in early January, my skin felt horrible. So when I saw the review opportunity for Mystelic’s Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum came up, I jumped on it.
The Mystelic Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum says it is number one on the market for face, eyes, and acne, and claims to reverse the signs of aging by stimulating collagen and removing toxins. It’s also, according to the back of the bottle, 98% naturally derived and 72% organic, which is pretty impressive. Oh, and it’s not tested on animals either, which the Amazon page fails to mention (surprisingly). Mystelic also gives you 45 days to try it, and if you don’t like it for any reason, they’ll refund your money 100%, no questions asked!
I wasn’t really concerned with the anti-aging aspect of it, to be honest. I look pretty young as it is thanks to a combination of genetics, staying out of the sun, not smoking, and not spending my entire 4 years of college binge drinking. The reason I wanted to review this product was because I recalled how great a vitamin C enhanced moisturizer made my skin feel, and I figured adding some vitamin C to my daily routine could only help. The reason I didn’t go back to that moisturizer? It was a little on the pricey side for me, and it smelled overly sweet to me, which I didn’t like. I figured this vitamin C serum couldn’t be any worse than that particular moisturizer in terms of scent, and that the more concentrated amount of vitamin C would be even better for me.
For me, Mystelic’s Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum is a hit!
Despite that, I didn’t take before and after pictures of my face for this review. The difference that the Mystelic Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum has made isn’t really something that I can show you in pictures. In fact, I don’t think there’s very much difference in how my face looks at all. I mean, I have noticed a reduction in breakouts (I tend to get a few pesky ones around my chin and forehead, especially when I’m stressedc), but the most noticeable difference for me is the actual texture of my skin.
The skin on my face is softer and smoother since adding this vitamin C serum to my morning routine. It feels a little firmer too, I think, but the real difference is the smoothness. In addition to the smoother texture I’ve gotten, I also feel like my skin has brightened up a little, though that could also be because we’ve gotten a few days of nice weather here and there, and we’ve managed to make it to some nice outdoorsy-type places (ok, we’ve been to the dog park and… that’s about it).
The smoother texture of my skin definitely makes me feel ready to face the world as the weather gets nicer. In the winter, it’s easy to cover up with scarves, high-neck sweaters, hats, and my hair down. But as warmer weather arrives, I’m ditching the scarves, the sweaters, the hats, and putting my hair up more and more. It’s nice to have a face that’s ready to show off, and not one that I still want to keep hidden!
An easy, quick morning routine step.
One of my absolute favorite things about this vitamin C serum is how easy it is to work into my routine. I’m a serial snooze-button hitter in the mornings, and often end up getting out of bed about 15 minutes after I should. Adding another step into my morning routine could easily make or break my being on time to work, but three drops of the Mystelic Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum in my palm and a quick smear on my face and neck before I pull the towel off my hair and I’m ready for moisturizer. It’s that quick of a step (though it takes longer if I forget to screw the lid back on and spill the stuff everywhere).
It’s also nearly clear and totally unscented. An added bonus, for me at least, is the total lack of perfume. Don’t get me wrong, I love nice-smelling things, but on my face, they tend to irritate my eyes and make my nose itch, and there are far better ways I like to start my day. So this vitamin C serum being just that, and not full of overly sweet artificial scents that don’t have any business being on my face in the first place is pretty awesome.
If your face needs a post-winter boost, consider getting the Mystelic Nature’s Best Vitamin C Serum.
I’ll be using it year-round, and will be purchasing another bottle soon, most likely. Mine is about half-empty now because I knocked it over, but I like it enough that the $22.95 price tag is worth it. Plus, it really is one of those “a little goes a long way” products. Like I said before, I’m only using 3 drops per application, which means that this will last me quite awhile (even with it being half-empty, ha). But I like the way it’s made my face feel, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it takes me through summer and into next winter. If it does what it says, my youthful appearance will stay what it is, and I should notice a more even skintone and even less breakouts. Fingers crossed!
