After thinking long and hard about it, I decided to push myself when it comes to fashion with this new thing I call Dup-A-Look. It’s a challenge, with very few rules, that focuses on duplicating a look using just what you have in your closet. There’s more info on the appropriately named tab above, or linked below.
This look was something I pinned in Pinterest ages ago. I just loved the layers, the pattern mixing, the socks, and pretty much everything else about this look.
The base of this look is a former maxi dress, which I cut twice. Over the summer, it was a few inches past my knees. Last week, I snipped it to where it’s at now so that I could wear boots with it and have them show. I added a blush cardigan, because I didn’t have a grey one that buttons like the blush one does. I belted my cardi, though I’m not sure if the Originator did or not. I added a similar scarf and a grey faux leather jacket I have that’s similar in style. I pulled my socks up over my knees because my brown boots are taller than hers. Of course, I couldn’t duplicate the hair, but no biggie.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how the dup came out, and this is definitely an outfit I’d wear again. It was perfect for the weather today too, which was a little on the chilly side, but not unbearable for a skirt without tights. Success!
The original is pinned here on Pinterest. Unfortunately, when I went to click through, it was no longer found, so I can’t credit past that. Bummer. Something tells me, I’d dig more of this girl’s style! If you know who she is, please let me know.
