Fellow blogger Sarah over at Catwalk Connection has passed the Leibster Award on over to me. The Liebster Award is one given to bloggers by other bloggers. Bloggers who are awarded a Leibster are usually bloggers with smaller followings… hidden gems that us bloggers want to see grow. If you’re given the Leibster Award, you get a series of random questions to answer, and then you pass the torch by “tagging” 5 other bloggers and asking them questions of your own. It’s a great way for each blog’s following to grow, and a really fun way to get to know each blogger a little better. Thanks, Sarah, for giving me the Leibster Award!
My questions and answers are…
What is your favorite makeup brand and why?
This one’s tough. I don’t wear a whole lot of makeup, and have really only been totally brand-loyal when it comes to two things: lip balm and mascara. I love Burt’s Bees lip balm… I have one on my nightstand, one in my purse at all times, one on my desk at work, and one on my makeup station (and a few others floating around here and there). When it comes to mascara, my go-to has always been a layer of L’Oreal Voluminous followed by a layer of Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion, both in waterproof formulas.
What is one thing you never leave home without?
My cell phone. But that’s kind of lame, really. Um… I rarely leave the house without earrings on, and when I do, I feel totally naked and not fully put together.
What is your current fashion obsession?
I really want a pair of sequin leggings. Like, really want a pair. In fact, I’ve spent the last two hours looking for the perfect pair online. Yes, two hours. I want a pair that’s full sequin (front and back), that will fit my odd measurements, and costs less than $60. Ideally less than $40, because I can’t quite justify even $50 on a pair of pants I won’t wear all that often.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d love to go back to Australia. I was there when I was 16 and while I feel like I appreciated it, I also feel like I missed a lot and would have a totally different experience going as an adult.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Somewhere between 75 and 90. I lose count each time I try, mostly because I realize I have a couple pairs in the front closet, and then a pair or two downstairs, and by the time I think about counting those, I’ve forgotten where I left off when I first thought of those pairs.
Are you more of an artist or an athlete?
Pfft, artist. Hands down. I’ve only ever been average at sports, and the one I was actually halfway decent at I couldn’t even continue to do because it almost wrecked my shoulder (that would be cheerleading, in case you’re wondering).
Would you rather take a plane or go for a long car ride?
No contest on this one for me. Car ride. Hubs and I love road trips. Being in a plane is a cool way to see the world, but it’s also fun to be able to stop at local joints and eat, appreciate the scenery as you go along, and spend time just talking with the person (or people) you’re with, without having to worry about sharing a 2″ wide armrest, seat reclining rules, or where your nearest emergency exit is. Oh, and no baggage fees.
What is your biggest fear?
Not getting a chance to say goodbye to those I love.
Did 2013 live up to your expectations?
I think it exceeded them in more ways than anything. It was a scary year, between the dog getting so sick, the new job, and finding my biological family, but right now, I’m thankful for everything I’ve dealt with and am looking forward to 2014! 2013 was, all said and done, a great year that delivered a lot, gave me quite a bit to be thankful for, strengthened me in ways I never thought possible, and brought wonderful people into my life.
How many pets do you own?
Just one, the fur-face Trixie dog. If you follow me on Instagram, you see her often. She’s doing very well now and the support we got from family, friends, and even strangers, during her illness was just astounding. I get all misty thinking about it, even now. She’s a wonderful dog that everyone just adores, and I’m glad we found her and brought her into our lives.
What is your favorite holiday?
I don’t really have a favorite holiday… not in the traditional sense. I like my family’s traditions, and hubs’ family’s traditions, but I’m not big on the religious aspect of the holidays at all. So I guess if I had to choose, I’d have to say my wedding anniversary. I know it’s not really a holiday, per say, but it’s kind of the only day that hubs and I have special for ourselves, that we don’t share with anyone else. And it’s a day that I look back on and smile, laugh, and grumble about all in the same sentence. There was so much that happened that day… it was all wonderous. And I got to share the day with the man of my dreams. Ok, ok, enough mush!
The bloggers I’m giving the Leibster Award to are…
And my questions for the bloggers are…
- If you were a crayon, what color would you be and why?
- New year, new you… or something. What blogging goals do you have for 2014?
- On a personal level, what are you looking forward to in 2014?
- If you had to get rid of all but 3 pairs of shoes from your closet, what 3 would you keep?
- What’s your favorite quote?
- What do your friends and family think about your blogging?
- What’s one of your guilty pleasures?
- If you could go back in time 10 years and tell yourself one thing, what would it be?
- What 3 things do you never leave the house without?
- Your boss gives you an extra week of vacation to do charity work… what do you do?
- Do you have a zombie apocalypse plan?
Enjoy all the answers!
