Two Birds does a weekly Inspiration Monday post, giving bloggers the chance to be inspired by the outfit of a celebrity or some sort, and use items they have in their closet to put together a look inspired by the one the Bird sisters choose. It’s been ages since I have done one of these, and when I caught a glimpse of today’s inspiration pic, I knew I could swing a look easily, and figured I’d get pics before or after work no problem. So I did. Yay!
This week’s inspiration is…
Selena Gomez is featured in this week’s Inspiration Monday pic, wearing jeans, a cropped top, buckled ankle booties, and an olive vest. A great look that’s super easy to be inspired by.
It’s a way cute outfit! One that, if it weren’t 90+ degrees outside today, or a workday (or both), I would have had a ton of fun with. But summer decided to show her face around these parts again, and jeans just wouldn’t do. And it’s Monday, so that means work, and no crop tops. But nonetheless, it was easy to work with.
So here’s my take on Ms. Gomez’s look…
I decided I was going to wear my new, supercute retro cars dress from Forever21. I had already planned on wearing it at some point this week, so I simply made it first in my rotation. I topped it with a black 3/4 sleeve cardigan from Target, to keep the chills away at the office, and my (also new and from Forever21) military-inspired vest and added my own buckle booties (could they be the same ones?!), the Repp by Steve Madden. I addred grey ankle socks under my booties so the little cutouts weren’t lost. I carried my limited edition Target fringe bag, a leftover from the weekend’s shenanigans at the Jimmy Buffett concert, and added a couple midi rings and this way cute ring that I’m pretty sure isn’t a fox ring, but a Trixie ring, and is already apparently out of stock on Forever21! Oh, and my beautiful new Limited Edition Michael Kors watch that I splurged on (but still got a great deal on).
While it wasn’t all that pleasant to have a heavier vest on in the heat, this was a nice look for inside. I wasn’t too chilly inside, and I think I wouldn’t have even been comfortable outside if I removed the cardi and vest. This dress was definitely a good purchase that I’ll get a lot of wear out of, and it’s adorable cars print just makes me smile.
