21 Day Challenge, Day 21: A Day Late, But Totally Worth It!

Finally, day 21 of the 21 Day Challenge!  The last day’s task was to take everything I learned and apply it in one rockin’ outfit.

When I did this the first time, it fell flat.  Totally flat.  I should have skipped the day and planned something for the following day.  Instead, I threw something bland together in a few minutes in the morning and snapped photos well after midnight.  Dumb.  Oh well.

This time around, I skipped a day, planned things out, and definitely felt like I rocked it.  I loved the outfit I wore, even if it was 22 days after starting the challenge!  I skipped a day because I had taken what was to be day 21 off work, and didn’t really have anything planned, and, well, I didn’t want to waste a good outfit on an insignificant day.  So instead, I decided to wait until Thursday to put something awesome together.  That’s what I did.

I knew I wanted to wear my fantastic sheer lace skirt from J-Na Haute Couture.  I won the piece in a giveaway and it was custom made for me, but I hadn’t worn it because, to be honest, I was afraid of ruining it.  But I decided to just suck it up and wear it.  After all, what’s the point of having something gorgeous, hand-made, and customized if you’re not going to wear it?  Silliness!

I wanted an outfit with texture, movement, and interest.  But I also wanted to feel like myself, and I had to be work-appropriate (of course).  So I started doing some digging through my Pinterest boards for inspiration.  I found quite a few ideas I had pinned for how to wear my lace skirt, and took inspiration from this and this when I started planning.

I decided I would wear my distressed leather-look leggings under my lace skirt, with my combat boots.  I loved the layered look of this outfit, and had acquired a sheer high-low tank very similar with an Express giftcard the day before, so I started figuring out what to put over it.  After numerous trials, I decided on a plain black tee, and made a mental note of finding or making more graphic tees.  I topped it off with my denim vest and layers of necklaces, along with my leather cuff and watch.

Check out the look.

21 Day Challenge: Day 21

This look was great, and a wonderful introduction into wearing this skirt.  I loved the layers, the texture… everything!   Now that I’ve finally ventured into wearing this skirt, I’m going to try to figure it out a little more.  I think it will be fun to play with during the summer with bike shorts or a mini skirt underneath, and in fall with tights and lettings.  I might even try bolder leggings underneath, instead of just black.

If I had to pick anything I didn’t like about this it’s that I didn’t have a cool graphic tee to wear.  I have plenty of them, but nothing that really suited what I was looking for with this look.  I smell some thrifting and DIY in my future!

So that’s day 21 of this round of the 21 Day Challenge.

That is definitely a unique look. I love the attitude that that outfit portrays. I have never done a style challenge. Might be something to think about.

The 21 Day Challenge is a good one because you can use your whole closet, and can plan ahead of time what you want to wear. I highly recommend it!
