On day 16 of the 21 Day Challenge the task was menswear.
When I did this the first time, I wore a skirt, a striped cardigan, and a vest, with the vest pretty much being the only thing menswear inspired at all. I was excited about getting some new stuff, and thought it worked. The outfit did, but it wasn’t particularly menswear-inspired, looking back.
So this time, I wore the same vest, but manned up a little more. I put the vest over a light blue collared shirt, tucked halfway into black skinny jeans and my “Joker” booties. Under the buttondown I wore a grey tee, because I liked the unkept look. I call these shoes my “Joker” booties because they remind me of the shoes Heath Ledger’s Joker wore in The Dark Knight. They’re pretty much the manliest shoes I have, and I don’t wear them often, but they worked nicely. This was a pretty simple outfit, though it took me a few tries to get here, strangely enough.
Check out the look.
I’m just now realizing that the only brown I’m wearing is my shoes. And I’m totally ok with that! I’ve certainly come a long way from my anti-black-and-brown days, that’s for sure. I liked this outfit. At first, I thought the skinny jeans with the flat boots would bother me, but after a little bit, it didn’t matter. I love these jeans–they’re Sevens, and fit me perfect. I don’t wear them enough, to be honest, and I have no idea why!
I had planned on playing with a dress for this challenge, and then thought about working my grandpa’s bowtie into the look. But I didn’t want to do something strange that I wouldn’t feel comfortable in just for the sake of the challenge. That’s silliness.
So that’s day 16 of this round of the 21 Day Challenge.
