I had to do a neutral base with a pop of color on day 13 of the 21 Day Challenge.
When I did this the first time, I threw on a purple scarf with a black dress. Yawn. I don’t know why I went with something so simple, but oh well.
This time around, I got creative. I didn’t just want to wear all black and throw a scarf on. I rummaged through my closet and this great dress caught my eye. It was a Savers find, and a wonderful one at that (retail value of the dress is over $250, and I paid $6.99!). It’s black with red and white circles on it, so it has a built in neutral base and pop of color. I wore black tights and boots with it, and threw my black scarf on again for more neutrals. For an extra layer, I added my cream vest with the faux fur collar. I couldn’t resist using this challenge to paint my nails too. I used Essie’s Playa Del Platinum on all of my nails, and topped each ring finger with a bright red to do an accent nail in a pop of color that tied into my dress.
Check out the look.
Let’s talk about the awesomeness of this dress for a moment. It is a David Meister dress that looks like it’s never been worn. It’s beautifully made, and fits me perfectly. It has sleeves and the length is perfect for work. I got crazy complements on it, and was super comfortable in it to boot. It’s amazing, and I am so glad I found it and tried it on!
I loved this look, though it was a little wintry for technically spring. Then again, so was our weather. Thankfully, that’s changing! But the look? Big fan. It was a good way for me to incorporate a little color without going overboard… neutrals are generally more my thing that color.
So that’s day 13 of this round of the 21 Day Challenge.
