On the second day of the 21 Day Challenge I had to tuck it in.
This first time around, I lamented about tucking things in and only half-tucked. Generally, I’m not a fan. Er, I used to not be a fan. Tucking things in has grown on me, and with the right look, I think it totally works. I’ve been doing far more tucking in lately, even if it’s just a half-tuck.
This time, I went with a full tuck! No half-tucks for this look–I wanted to embrace this challenge 100% this time around. So I tucked a graphic tee into my paint-splattered GAP khakis and popped my thrifted boy’s blazer over it. I wanted to do something different on the bottom, so I cuffed the khakis and added grey socks and some gladiator heels. Admittedly, I was inspired by a couple things I had pinned: this, this, and even this. Socks with cuffed jeans and sandals are definitely something I wouldn’t have thought to do on my own.
Check out the look.
This was a tricky one, because I had my heart set on wearing these khakis and doing the cuffed-with-sock-and-heels thing. I originally was going to do a plain grey tee with the blazer and black socks with the shoes, but it just fell flat. Then I pulled the graphic tee out, and found socks the same color, and it all came together beautifully. Again, not really something I would have thought of on my own, at all, but I ended up really liking it when it was all put together.
I tend to have trouble wearing khakis, but I love these and won’t get rid of them. I think the trouble is that khakis are generally a “preppy” item, and as someone who’s got a rock star style profile, khakis probably shouldn’t even be in my wardrobe. But the pain splatters, worn in feeling, and baggier fit just work for me, and I love the way they feel when I wear them. So the challenge becomes not wearing khakis, but making them fit my style.
So that’s day 2 of this round of the 21 Day Challenge.
