Two Birds does a weekly Inspiration Monday post, giving bloggers the chance to be inspired by the outfit of a celebrity or some sort, and use items they have in their closet to put together a look inspired by the one the Bird sisters choose. I haven’t done one of these in ages, mostly because I tend to forget to check out their site for the inspiration pic, but I’m going to try doing them each week from now on. It’s just so fun!
This week’s inspiration is…
This week, the Two Birds sisters chose Olivia Palermo for inspiration. She’s wearing a very springy outfit–white lace dress, orange cardigan, bare legs, strappy shoes–and she looks great.
And here’s my take on this look…
I actually almost didn’t do this week, because on the site, this was still listed as the inspiration look for March 4. But when I checked the Two Birds main page this morning and saw today’s post up with Olivia Palermo’s photo, I realized they’d just forgotten to change the date.
I had originally planned a great outfit involving a cream lace skirt and tights, a comfy tee, and a great statement necklace… but this morning I just wasn’t feeling a skirt at all. So I ammended my outfit and decided to go with jeans instead. I decided I was going to wear a sheer beaded top over a plain tee, because I don’t have a lace top. The beads still allowed for some texture and interest, like Olivia has in her skirt, and are a little springy, like the overall look. On top of that, I added a red cardigan and my brand new pink bubble necklace, which was a gift from a friend. On the bottom, I went with looser fit skinnies, which I cuffed over my peacock booties. I only accessorized with my watch, because I felt like it would have been a little too much on top with the beaded top, the bubble necklace, and a few bracelets on my wrist. I scrunched my hair (which proved virtually pointless as it went straight the second I stepped outside) and threw it in a pony.
Sorry there’s no guy checking out my butt in my version of the shot. Had I noticed it sooner I’d have made my husband do it. For real.
I really liked my original plan for this look, and it’s something I’ll probably wear when spring actually gets here. This look isn’t to bad though. I like the beaded top (which is new) under the red cardigan with the pink necklace. In fact, I really like the bubble necklace over the beaded top. When I threw it on, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. Overall, I’m pretty comfortable in this outfit, though I don’t think it’s something I would have put together on my own. I do sort of feel like I’m missing a scarf or something, but again, I think that might have been too much. Maybe in the look I end up putting together that’s based on my original plan for today… who knows.
Check out the rest…
The sisters at Two Birds always participate, but so do a bunch of other bloggers! You can check out the post at Two Birds and find the linky at the bottom here.
