So I’m totally swamped at work right now, which is why I haven’t been all that bloggy. Womp. But, I figured I could share with you some of my favorite things I’ve come across lately on Pinterest.
My new favorite cake recipe.
I’ve made this cake twice, with different ice cream both times, and it’s come out great both times! A big hit, and so easy that I think it’s my new go-to pot luck recipe. It’s just ice cream and self-rising flour, and it’s a good, moist cake that isn’t overly sweet. You can top it with whatever works with the flavor ice cream you decided to use, which makes it a super versatile cake. I highly recommend giving this one a shot!
Something old, something new…
I’ve got wedding on the brain, because my BFF just got engaged, and over the weekend asked me to be her Maid of Honor! So of course, anything wedding-related that speaks to me, I’ve been pinning (especially things that make me think of Chrissi!). Here are some of my favorites.
This Bridesmaid and Maid of Honor duties pin is quite helpful! I’m not 100% sure I agree with all of the duties, but it’s still a pretty good outline of what, generally, is expected of wedding attendees.
I’m in love with this ombre bridesmaid dress idea (top left above)! I’m totally digging the soft colors, great textures, and asymmetrical look of this lush bouquet, which I wish I had seen prior to my wedding (bottom left). And I adore all of the different the textures in this fab cake (right)!
And of course, the crafty stuff!
I love making stuff, and have been looking for things I can DIY with items I already have in my closet. I think I’m going to be tackling these projects next!
I saw this metallic drip backpack and fell in immediate lust with it. For the price, I couldn’t even begin to justify it… but I could certainly figure out how to DIY it! Same goes for this cute leopard print sweater–though I think I’d use fabric paints on a plain sweatshirt or long-sleeved tee. And then there’s this cute work out tank, made using oversized shirts. Goodness have I got plenty of those! It’s nice to have a solution for them, and one that’s wearable too!
Some beauty-related things I’m in love with right now.
While I don’t have an intense beauty routine, usually wear very little makeup, and go with bare nails, I still love hunting for beauty ideas on Pinterest. It’s no secret that I adore Alexa Chung’s hair, but here’s a great article on how to actually get the look–and it’s super easy too! And speaking of hair-spiration, here’s my next length goal. I’ve got a long ways to go, but I think I can do it!
Now, I don’t usually wear foundation, but I thought these tips were great, and couldn’t resist pinning them. You never know when you might need to remember not to make some of those mistakes!
I love a quick, easy eye for weekdays, and this one fits the bill but still looks glam (top left). And speaking of glam, this all gold lid is fantastic for a party, but totally no fuss (bottom left). I’ll be trying it out soon! I’ll also be trying out this alternating pink glitter mani (top right) and this mixed hues mani (bottom right) this spring.
And I wouldn’t be a style blogger if I didn’t share the styles I’m loving.
Having recently figured out exactly what my style is, I find myself pinning looks that really speak to me. Layers, texture, leather, and all sorts of other stuff have been screaming “PIN ME!” as I browse, and it’s really helping inspire me in terms of style.
I love oversized sweaters and high heels, especially on more mild days in winter. This look (top left) totally fits the bill, and is one I’m planning on wearing at least once this winter. I recently braved purchasing gold coated jeans, and love the rocker chic vibe in this look (second from left), which I’ll be playing around with come spring weekends. I have a midi skirt that I’ve been struggling to style, and really like the unique look here (second from right), and I have all the makings to gather inspiration from it. Definitely not something I’d think of myself, but something I’m going to try out.
I’m not a huge celebrity fan, but this Kardashian sister’s outfit (far right) really speaks to me! In fact, I used it for inspiration this past Saturday! I love the textures and layers. And speaking of textures and layers, I love the printed mini paired with a chambray shirt under a chunky sweater. Something I’m going to have to try… if I could just find the right printed mini! And finally, I’m totally digging the clashing prints and menswear vest in this look (bottom, second from left). Definitely something I’m going to try out at least once this spring!
So there you have it, some stuff I’m digging over on Pinterest!
