Back to work meant having to wear stuff that was work-appropriate… no more shorts, miniskirts, or shirts with writing on them. Bummer. But I still had a great selection of looks to choose from, which was good news.
For Monday, October 22, I chose this great look with a denim shirt, which seems to have originated at inspired-design.tumblr.com. While I couldn’t wear the hat indoors at work, it proved to be perfect for the cooler, rainy day we had here Monday. My denim shirt is an old one from GAP, which is also where my skinny black pants are from. My cardigan was my grandma’s. The hat I’ve had for a few years and don’t remember where it’s from. My pointy-toe flats (I had to go flat after being in heels all day Sunday) are MIA from DSW. For jewelry, I layered 2 pearl necklaces, wrapped, with an estate sale find, and a DIY piece that’s coral colored (but you can’t even see). I added a few chain bracelets to my trusty Fossil watch, and done.
A successful dupe, once again, though I wasn’t really thrilled with the length of the sweater. The shape was similar to the one in the picture, but it just didn’t really work for me. Maybe it was because it was so much longer than the denim shirt? I’m not sure. I think this was the first time I’ve worn it since getting it, but I’ll have to play around with it more. It felt a little dumpy to me.
What do you think? What drew me to this look was the casual-chic vibe as well as the subtle statement necklace peeking out of the collar on the denim shirt. I also kinda of liked the menswear aspect of this look. Would you wear a necklace like that, or add a menswear-inspired piece to your ensemble like this?
