Pretty Practical Arianne Necklace Review & Giveaway

The Necklace

The folks at Pretty Practical were lovely enough to send me a beautiful Arianne Necklace in purple to review! When I saw it online, I fell in love with it, but when I got it in person… well, I knew it would work itself into my wardrobe easily.  They sent me the purple necklace to style and review, though it’s also available in cream, red, and brown.

The Review

I was in awe of the Arianne when I took it out of the box. It truly is a beautiful necklace, and the photo just doesn’t do it justice.  It’s big and rich-looking, and is just incredibly eye-catching.  Taking it out of the box, in all its jangly goodness, I oohed and aahed.  Like, actually out loud.

But then, tragedy!  One of the pieces fell loose from the bottom of the necklace!  I was devastated–I hadn’t even gotten to wear it yet.  But, upon closer inspection, it was revealed that one of the jump rings holding the necklace together hadn’t been closed all the way when it was made.  Hooray, an easy fix!  A quick pinch with my needle-nose pliers and I was ready to start styling!  I do caution you, if you order the Arianne, to double check that all of the jump rings are closed before pulling it out of the box.  Had I lost the one ring, I’m not 100% sure I could have found one that matched perfectly.  Here are a couple close-up pics of the open jump ring so you know what to look for–and really, it’s a good thing to look out for when buying jewelry (or taking it out of the box) regardless.

Open jumpring on the Arianne Necklace.

I’m not going to lie, at first, the Arianne is a bit of an intimidating piece! But once you get over the size, it’s actually really easy to style.  Surprisingly easy, actually!  It looks really intricate, but because it’s enamel and not glittery or blingy, it makes a statement in a slightly more subtle way than if it were all sparkly-like.  It’s definitely still a statement

The first time I wore it, I went a little 90’s inspired for a day at work.  I wore a bouncy grey skirt, a black tee, black cropped tights, and black ankle booties.  I added a denim jacket over it because I’m always cold at the office.  The pop of color the Arianne provided was a perfect pick-me-up for this look, adding a little pop of color without being over the top.

Pretty Practical Arianne Necklace: Look 1

I wore it again with a more casual outfit–jean shorts, cropped tights, a white v-neck tee, and grey Chucks–proving that it is a piece you can dress down easily (or one you can use to dress up jeans and a plain tee).  The Arianne really dressed up this otherwise drab outfit I wore to run errands on a Saturday, and made me feel a little bit better about tossing on the first few items I grabbed from the closet and heading out the door.  A blazer with this look would have worked perfect too, but it wasn’t quite that cool out that I needed one.

Pretty Practical Arianne Necklace: Look 2 I spent the rest of Saturday in my sewing room, so I figured I’d give you a sneak peek.  There’s my dressform.  Exciting, huh?

I also discovered that it’s reversible! The back side of the purple necklace is solid silver, and there’s no color spill over, which means you can wear it as a plain silver necklace too (some of the colors, like cream, have a gold back).  How awesome is that?  It doubles the versatility of the necklace, and makes it wearable with things that purple just doesn’t work with.

I really wanted to wear the Arianne with my mint jeans, sheer uneven hem top, and a black vest.  A neutral belt just wasn’t cutting it, so I added a pink belt, but then the purple just wasn’t working for me.  So I reversed the necklace to silver and it was perfect.  I added a little blingy double-finger ring and my menswear-inspired outfit was taken to a whole ‘nother level!  I felt totally chic in this look.

Pretty Practical Arianne Necklace: Look 3

The Arianne proved to be a great way to dress up almost anything.  I had a family thing I needed to attend, and wanted to wear this thrifted-and-altered floral skirt I had with a grey tee, grey sheer tights, and a black cardi.  I knew the second I put those pieces together that the silver side of the Arianne was going to work magic with this look, and I was right.  I added multi-buckled wedge booties to complete the look and it was perfection.

Pretty Practical Arianne Necklace: Look 4

As you can tell, the Arianne is amazingly versatile. It works with a variety of looks, and does so doubletime because it’s reversible!  You’ll be seeing a lot of this piece… I may even see if I can work it for a wedding I have coming up.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many complements I’ve gotten on this necklace. Women and men of all ages have complemented the Arianne.  It is truly an eye-catching, unique piece that invites conversation.  And when I’ve been wearing it backwards, people (mostly women on this one, haha) are always in awe of the fact that it’s like a 2-in-1 piece, because I always show them.

It is worth noting that this is not a quiet necklace. It jingles and jangles and makes all kinds of noise as you move.  It’s not annoying at all, but if you need to be quiet, I advise not wearing this piece (unless you don’t particularly care, in which case, go for it!).

The ivory for fall would be a nice way to break up my piles of jewel tones.

Tough call on the color choice! But I think I’d go with cream. You did a great job showing how many different ways this necklace can be worn.

Thanks 🙂 Tights with shorts was a look that was a little to 80’s for me a couple seasons ago, but it’s really grown on me. I think the key is making sure you accessorize in a way that doesn’t throwback to the 80’s (so no legwarmers 😉 LOL)

    Cream one! Thank you!

Purple please because it is purple and can be reversed for silver on the back. I am not a fan of gold so telling us that the back is silver and is reversible sold me.

I think the cream because it looks great on black and I always wear black!

Both colors look great, but for me the purple is the big winner. It’s bold and exciting, and I can imagine it jazzing up my neutral tops.
