New to You Clothing & Accessories Swap

Exciting news!  Suburban Style Challenge has partnered up with Phantom 42 Studios in Fox Lake to host our first ever clothing and accessories swap!  This is a great opportunity to build your wardrobe without spending a whole bunch of money.

How it Works:  You bring your gently used clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories* to Phantom 42 Studios (view map) during the drop off hours and pay just $10 to swap.  If you don’t have anything you want to get rid of, but want to come shop the swap, you can arrive when doors open to swap and pay $20.  During the swap, take as much as you want during swapping hours, but do try to leave something for others, of course.

What to Swap: Bring nearly anything you want to get rid of for women, men, and kids (though we do ask that you leave swimwear, lingerie/underwear, and hosiery at home, please).

Drop Off Hours: Friday, May 4, 5P to 9P, Saturday, May 5, 9A to 5P, & 9A to12P Sunday, May 6
Swapping Hours: 2P to 5P on Sunday, May 6

Proceeds and unswapped items go to Home of the Sparrow & the Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores. For more information on Home of the Sparrow click here.

This is the first clothing swap I’m organizing, but not my first event, so I’m pretty confident it’ll be a success. I’m really excited to be able to do this, and am thankful to Dennis at Phantom 42 for helping me host and offering the space for it!

Reblogged this on Thoughts of a Hobbyist Model and commented:

This is from my style blog, and is worth coming out to if you’re a model or a photographer. Why? Clothing swaps are a great way to increase your shoot wardrobe and get rid of stuff you’ve shot too much in or are no longer wearing. They’re also great for building prop stashes (for both models and photographers). Plus, this event is at one of the newest studios in the Chicago suburbs (which is only a block away from the Fox Lake Metra station), which also means it’s a great opportunity to check out a new, rentable space that’s great for large scale shoots and events!

YAY! So glad you are planning one of these on your own. I’m hoping to be back in the Chicago area a little more often in the months to com so hopefully I’ll be planning more blogger meetups and swaps, etc… Good luck with this one. How exciting. – Katy
